Jyothi “BJ” Swaroop Bommidi has been working on PIE Center projects since Fall of 2016. Bommidi is pursuing a doctoral degree in agricultural education and communication, specializing in extension education, at the University of Florida and will graduate Fall of 2019.

Bommidi says he has been afforded many opportunities in the PIE Center to work on his data analysis skills and research writing.

“I have really enjoyed working on unique research, but my favorite aspect of the PIE Center is the faculty I get to work with,” Bommidi said.

Swaroop loves to meet new people and learn about different cultures, and learned how this passion could be a part of his research focus.

“I had a chance to work on public perceptions in agriculture and natural resources and identifying capacities needed for extension services to be effective,” Bommidi said. “I found my research focus while working with the PIE Center.”

Bommidi is a self-proclaimed “techno geek” and wants to learn more about how technology can be utilized to improve work and life. This interest, combined with his passion for agricultural research, makes his future career choice an easy one.

“My goal is to conduct research full-time in the area of public opinion and information and communication technology utilization by stakeholders in the agricultural industry,” said Bommidi.
