Samantha Goldenberg

Department of Family, Youth, and Community Sciences, Graduate student

Samantha Goldenberg has been working on PIE Center projects for the last two years. Goldenberg is studying family, youth and community sciences (FYCS) at the University of Florida and will graduate May of 2018.

During her first year of graduate school, Goldenberg aided in developing research pieces for the Healthy Gulf, Healthy Communities project, including research posters, EDIS documents for publication, and literature reviews for research papers.

Today, she focuses her efforts on research projects with the Southeastern Coastal Center for Agricultural Health and Safety.

Goldenberg values working with Angie Lindsey, assistant professor of FYCS and affiliate faculty with the PIE Center, and getting to learn about research that is different from her own line of inquiry.

“The PIE Center research is very different from my own research, so getting the opportunity to learn about new topics and different research at UF has been a great experience,” Goldenberg said.

She also says the PIE Center has impacted her academic career in several ways.

“Through working here, I have learned how to better prepare academic posters and research papers,” Goldenberg said. “My writing and research skills have improved over the last year, which allows me to excel in my own graduate program in the family, youth, and community sciences department.”

Following graduation, Goldenberg hopes to work in the nonprofit sector with an organization that fits her interest.
