The 2010 Deepwater Horizon, or BP, oil spill significantly impacted coastal communities along the Gulf Coast. From major fisheries closures to impeded summer tourist seasons, the spill caused major economic losses and subsequent social disruptions that tested communities’ resiliency and adaptive capacity to environmental disasters.

We invite you to join us for the June session of the Easy as PIE Webinar with speaker Dr. Brian Mayer, principal investigator for community resilience with the Healthy Gulf Healthy Communities Project. This webinar will showcase seven years of community-based participant research in several Gulf Coast communities. In addition, this presentation will present an overview of the expanding concept of community resilience and how it functioned in the recovery processes from the 2010 spill.
