August 24 (2-3pm) – Emerging Pathogens: Zika, Chikungunya, and other things that go bump in the night
Scientists and public health officials are constantly unlocking new information about the Zika virus and other mosquito transmitted viruses. Do you feel like you have the knowledge to adequately assess the threat that Zika poses to your community? Join us for the August session of the Easy as PIE webinar series on mosquito-borne diseases. Dr. Glenn Morris, director of the University of Florida Emerging Pathogens Institute, will discuss arboviruses, which have attracted recent national and international attention, including Zika and Chikungunya. Epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and complications will be presented, together with a discussion of risk factors for infection, and public health approaches to control of these diseases.
